Archie James Group is a Melbourne-based business advisory and commercial services group built for Australian small and medium businesses. We exist to give businesses access to the tools, resources and expertise that have traditionally only been available to bigger ones.
Big businesses have whole teams dedicated to documentation, cost management, financial oversight and business development. Small business owners have themselves — and a growing list of things they haven't got to yet. We're here to close that gap.
Across four services — the Business Builders Library, the New Business Launch Pad Program, the Cost Reduction Program and the Lost Money Reclaim Program — we work with business owners who are serious about running a better operation but don't have unlimited time or budget to get there.
Our story
Archie James Group wasn't built from a business plan. It was built from frustration.
After more than five years working across agribusiness and commercial environments — as an adviser, facilitator and business owner himself — Josh kept seeing the same thing. Business owners who were brilliant at what they did, running operations held together by memory, habit and goodwill, with no proper systems underneath them. Businesses that were technically excellent but commercially exposed. SMEs paying over the odds for services because no one had ever taken the time to look at what they were spending or fight for a better deal.
The resources existed to fix most of these problems. They just weren't accessible. A policy library that cost thousands to build. A cost reduction consultant who only worked with enterprise clients. A business adviser whose hourly rate put them out of reach before the conversation even started.
The more Josh saw it, the more it bothered him. Not just as a professional observation — but personally. He'd run his own businesses. He knew what it felt like to not have the right resource at the right time; To spend hours building something from scratch that should have already existed. To miss out on savings because he trusted that his suppliers had his best interests at hear when in reality he was just a number; A customer number in a corporate machine, a KPI to look at for growth and revenue targets.
